Museo Palazzo Corboli

The Palazzo Corboli Museum is housed in an ancient medieval palace, where the prestigious Bandinelli family once resided. A three-storey building, where you can lose yourself among works of sacred art and archaeological finds.

Among the most famous works on display is the elegant Madonna and Child by “Barna”, who was one of the masters of the circle of the famous Sienese painter Simone Martini, as well as the triptych Rofeno by Ambrogio Lorenzetti. There are also hints of the finest Sienese Baroque, with the Crucifixion by Bernardino Mei. Some rooms on the second and third floors house the archaeological section, with Etruscan finds from the Upper Ombrone Valley. Funerary goods and precious objects, for a leap into a little-known but extremely rich past. In a place so ancient and rich in history, the works of art are not only those on display: the palace, in fact, preserves cycles of medieval frescoes painted by Cristoforo di Bindoccio and Meo di Pero for the Bandinelli family.
