PRO LOCO ASCIANO
History of the Pro Loco
The memorandum of the association dates back to 14th June 1966 and in the first period the Board of Directors was made up of eight members plus the Mayor Pro Tempore. On 14 June 1993, as per the deed of Notary Maria Patrizia Bersotti, an amendment was made to the Statute in order to increase, for management reasons, the number of members of the Board of Directors from nine to twenty-one, including the Mayor Pro Tempore.
Our Presidents:
Giulio Giulietti, from 1966 to 1974;
Francini Naldi Giovanni, from 1975 to 1983;
Fratagnoli Sergio, from 1984 to 1992;
Enrico Torpigliani, from 1993 to 1995;
Marco Maffei, from 1996 to 1998;
Paolo Lorenzoni, from 1999 to May 2009;
Barbi Luca, from June 2009 to May 2018;
Barbagli Luca, since June 2018, currently in office.
Some of the most important initiatives carried out by our association include the "Mostra Mercato del Centro Sud Senese" (Market Fair of the Centre and South of Siena), which aimed to promote characteristic and handmade products of Asciano and the neighbouring towns; the "Carnevale dei ragazzi" (Kids' Carnival); the "Garbo d'Oro" ceremony, a public recognition awarded to all those from Asciano and elsewhere who had honoured the name of Asciano; the 'Menciaioli Dinner'; the 'Photo-Pictorial-Literary Competition', the aim of which was to promote and publicise the Scialenga area; the 'Crete Market', an event in which exhibitors and local craftsmen set up stalls selling their products in the streets of the village.
